Bare Baux Intimates

Conceptual lingerie collection using 3D printed silicone,
mesh & metallic leather for AW17/18.

Behind the concept

Bare Baux Intimates is a conceptual lingerie collection that exercises the use of 3D printing technologies within its design and construction. Using additive manufacturing to create personalised, data generated designs. Instead of being sewn, seams are bonded with silicone during the 3D printing process - pushing forward cleaner designs. Bare Baux Intimates explores 3D printing with a uniquely delicate approach, by centring its’ designs on the use of clear stretch silicone in place of elastics, stitching, as a shaping technology & lace within itself.

The Silicone Body

Conceptual Design

The Silicone Body is made entirely out of clear 3D printed silicone and is regarded as it’s own fabrication. With built-in compression technologies - this garment can be seen as a futuristic interpretation of shapewear. Using an innovative and breathable material structure designed to shape and control the figure.

The Silicone Seams, Edges & Lace Imitations

Functional & Aesthetic Design

Silicone has excellent stretch and recovery, preventing garments from becoming misshapen during wash and wear. The seam-lines along the mesh in this collection have been bonded by the 3D printing machine during the silicone curing process. These pieces suggest alternative ways to maintain fit and stretch around the body, allowing for elastic-free minimal and clean designs.

A contemporary alternative to lace: Bare Baux Intimates also features silicone in aesthetic butterfly & floral patterns printed onto sheer mesh.
As well as lace imitations that are entirely 3D printed without any fabric foundation.

The Metallic Leather Bra & Harness

The Bare Baux Intimates collection is made up from a clear silicone 3D printed onto a transparent tulle. The styles and designs of which give the collection a science-fiction feel; the future of lingerie. The inclusion of metallic leather pieces in the form of a bra & harness gave the collection an edge - with a nod old-world manufacturing. A collection that encapsulates a hybrid of the past and what’s to come.

The Whisperings Exhibit & Press

"Whisperings is a space of reflection on the true value of lingerie, the perception of dreamy lightness and beauty, which makes lingerie stand out from all other garment classifications. We wanted Whisperings to be a celebration of creativity centred around technical prowess, an observation and vision of the future place of lingerie in the lives of modern women."

— Jos Berry, Concepts Paris

"Designed to inspire the senses, Whisperings offered a space of reflection on the dreamy lightness and beauty of lingerie. Designer, Jessica Haughton, showcased her experimental collection with 3-D printed silicone. Beauty and lightness reigned."

— Kathryn Kemp-Griffin, Paris Undressed

"Bare Baux Intimates is the brainchild of Nottingham graduate Jessica Haughton. As part of the Whisperings exhibit, we see Bare Baux Intimates collection of 3D printed Lingerie. The garments were made in conjunction with elastic supplier Stretchline using silicone elastic, silver leaf wire casing and 3D printed silicone motifs, as a contemporary alternative to lace."

— Rachel Higginbottom, Tactile Trends

"A beautiful addition was the Whispering exhibition- the profound work of young British artist, Jessica Haughton. Her work is exceptionally creative and seen as a rather forward-looking vision of tomorrow’s intimates."
